Description

98 years ago this beautiful lady was born in a ranch in Jalisco state’s highlands. 1911, the world was black and withe at that time. Her family had to leave the place they had because some revolution reforms where use by a lawyer to take their ranch. Then her dad became a revolutionary and fought against the federal government for some years, and of course, the whole family had to travel with him, sleep in caves, hide from the army, and live in the mountains.

A big reward was put on her fader’s head, so they escaped the region and went to live even higher, in the beginning of the country’s north. They moved to Leon, to Aguascaliente, to Lagos, to Ojuelos and finally to San Luis Potosi. She went back to Ojuelos, a small town in the middle of the dessert, and became a nun for 9 years. She left the convent because she was very sick and everyone though it will be better for her to go die with her family.
She didn’t die, married when she was already old for the time standards with a man she didn’t love and didn’t love her, and made a big family: 4 sons, 3 daughters, 19 grand sons, 8 great-grandsons... and more on the way.

She didn’t had a tragic marriage, but had to carry with all the family because her husband was a treasure hunter that never found any treasure and lost the families money on it. She sended all her boys to the catholic seminary because there at least they will have three meals a day. None of them ended up a priest and they all traveled the world as hippies in the 60 and 70.

She remained very catholic, but in a very beautiful way. She knows very little when it comes to general knowledge, but what she know she applied in her life in a very effective way. She knows how to love, and she does it better than anyone. First thing she’ll tell you when she knows you is that she’s not from San Luis Potosi, but from Jalisco state, and the second thing will be that she loves you. It worms my heart every time I remember her sweet, sweet voice telling me those words full of love.

She’s old now, and has been since I was a child, but she remains happy and joyful like no one else I know.

I’m very lucky to have this amazing grandmother.
